Who operates this site

The Tatami Center website, thetatamicenter.com, is operated by GRIPS INDIA, a proprietorship. The proprietor is J B Ravishankar (Jayachamarajapura Basappa Ravishankar). Eligibility

You may use this site and place an order if you can enter a contract under Indian law. If you order for a business, you confirm that you are allowed to bind that business.

Orders and prices

We sell Japanese tatami mats, fusuma doors, karakami lighting, tableware, and craft kits. These are physical goods shipped across India. We also offer Japanese interior design services, and tickets to cultural events (for example ₹700 per person per day). All prices are in Indian rupees (INR).

A price shown on a product page is the price for that item. Some goods are quoted only after you enquire. Placing an order is an offer to buy. We accept it when we confirm by email or WhatsApp, or when your payment succeeds.

Taxes and shipping

Taxes and shipping are shown before you pay. Where a price says that shipping and taxes are included, that amount is what you pay. Otherwise the shipping charge is shown at checkout.

Payment

Payments are processed by PhonePe Payment Gateway and Razorpay. We do not store your card number, expiry date, or card security code. Those details are collected by the payment gateway, not by this website. If a payment fails, the order is not completed.

Custom orders and services

Some goods are made to order, or the price is agreed after an enquiry. Interior design work is confirmed in writing, including by email or WhatsApp, before we begin. The scope, price, and timeline in that confirmation are the ones that apply.

Event bookings

Cultural events may be ticketed, for example ₹700 per person per day. A ticket is valid for the date and event named in the confirmation. Cancellation of a ticket is covered in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Intellectual property

The text, photographs, and diagrams on this site, and The Tatami Center name and mark, belong to GRIPS INDIA or to the people who licensed them to us. You may not copy them for a commercial use without written permission. Names such as tatami, fusuma, and karakami describe the crafts.

Limitation of liability

We take care with the goods and with the information on this site. To the extent Indian law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for a delay outside our control, including a delay by a courier. Our liability for a paid order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that Indian law does not allow us to limit.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction.
